Can Newt Gingrich Receive Communion?

Is it true that Newt Gingrich is permitted to receive Holy Communion?

When he's had twice as many divorces as I have had?

Losing my ability to receive Holy Communion was a surprisingly difficult loss for this cafeteria Catholic. I am more than welcome to fund, er, join a parish and go to Mass, but unless I supplied the Vatican coffers through the annulment process, the "big event" for Catholics can not be open to me.

I'm reading in a few places where Gingrich may have received (two??) annulments. Based on his own admission of those divorce circumstances, I'm just an itty bitty bit confused as to why the Vatican would grant such a thing.

And maybe they didn't. I can't find much on this subject. Except for this interview Gingrich gave to Sean Hannity where he talks about the Eucharist bringing him peace. So that would seem to indicate that he and Vatican reached "an understanding."

I'm not naive. I know the Vatican is as political as Congress and your local PTA.

But at this season when I most miss my parents, it kinda hurts that I can't connect to them through the faith that was so dear to them, simply because I made a mistake. Oh, do the Catholics love to drive home the guilt on bad choices.
